Links to 3rd party sites and software
These are files and resources of interest to ClickMail Central Directory users. As ClickMail itself passes into "legacy" status, some of the below links have gone out of date.
System software
- Mac OS - System Software (worth the price!)
- Open Transport/PPP - Apple's PPP driver (look on the linked page for "OT PPP 1.0-Net Install.sea.hqx"). (For Global Village 28.8/33.6 modems, get their OT/PPP modem script from GV tech support).
OT/PPP requires Open Transport 1.1.1 or later, and System 7.1 or 7.5.3 or later.
- Documentation for OT/PPP: Use the extensive Apple Guide info (part of the OT/PPP install) or read the OT/PPP User's Guide (Acrobat .pdf, 265K).
- Open Transport 1.1.2 (7344K) works best on Mac 7.x systems (before OS 8). We recommend upgrading from MacTCP, although it takes about 1MB more RAM. Avoid Open Transport 1.1 (this older version shipped with systems 7.5 - 7.5.5).
Documentation for OT: Use the extensive Apple Guide info (part of the OT install) or read the Open Transport 1.1 User's Guide (Acrobat .pdf, 412K). OT 1.1.2 Read Me (5K)
- Apple hardware and software products store - AppleShare IP, ARA, ClarisWorks/AppleWorks, etc.
- Mac OS (third party) hardware and software guide - thousands of 'em, all for Mac! Searchable database.
Client Software for Macintosh
These are Mac-version links, but ClickMail works just as well with Windows clients.
LDAP-aware email clients:
- Eudora Pro - Commercial version of the original popular Internet email client.
- Netscape Communicator - Integrated browser, newsgroups, and email--free.
- Outlook Express - POP3/IMAP client--can run separately or with Internet Explorer--free. Uses MS Office to spellcheck.
- Mulberry - Free IMAP email client, very Mac-like.
- QuickMail Pro - Internet (POP3) version that works like their original LAN product - commercial.
- Apple's Mail - LDAP-aware but didn't work with ClickMail in a brief test.
Standalone LDAP clients:
- LDapper - Standalone LDAP client. Can be used with any email program! Freeware.
- maX.500 - Read/write LDAP client from University of Michigan. Limited ability to edit entries.
Email Server Software for Macintosh
Apple
- AppleShare IP - Commercial web/ftp/mail/file server that integrates with ClickMail Central Directory!

Gracion is proud to be a Powell's.com Associate. This is a real independent bookstore in Portland OR. A book lover's paradise--in person or on the web. When you do a web search, often lower-priced used, remaindered, or markdown copies are listed. And, their email newsletter, "written by a real author," is a gem. Ordinarily we don't go in for this sort of thing, but we think you'll really enjoy it, so we're running this banner:
